Information on cadets returning to campus Sunday, Oct. 4

Citadel cadets are scheduled to return to campus today at 6 p.m. for knobs and 7:50 p.m. for upper class cadets. Cadets in areas where a safe return is not possible should contact their TAC officer. For those who cannot safely return today, they are required to be on campus no later than 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5.

There is no change to current campus services. Food service, Deas Hall, Daniel Library, etc… are on normal schedules/hours.
We plan to announce at approximately 5 p.m. today the campus status and class schedules for Monday.

The Citadel will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 2

This decision was made to ensure the safety of the college's cadets, students, faculty and staff due to heavy rain and street flooding.
- Leave policy for the South Carolina Corps of Cadets will be announced tomorrow morning/Friday, Oct. 2 morning.
- Faculty and staff who are not essential for emergency operations should not report to work
- Others should follow appropriate check-in procedures.
- Essential services for cadets on campus will remain in tact
- It is anticipated that normal operations will resume Monday, Oct. 5

Authorities have identified the suspect in the Emanuel AME church shooting as 21-year-old Dylann Roof of Columbia, South Carolina.
If you have any information on the suspect or the shooting, please call 1-800-CALLFBI (1-800-225-5324). If you observe the suspect, do not approach him. If on The Citadel campus, call The Citadel Police at 843-953-5114. If off campus, call 911, making sure to give a complete description and location of the suspect.
At this time there is no information that would lead us to believe The Citadel campus would be targeted by the suspect or that he is in the immediate area. However, please be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious persons or activity to The Citadel Police at 843-953-5114.

The Citadel will resume normal operations tomorrow, Wed. Feb. 25.
Classes this evening will be held as normal. Students, faculty, and staff travelling to campus are encouraged to put safety first and alert their supervisors as needed.

Charleston County Government will be returning to business as usual on Wednesday, and as per state regulations, and under the direction of the Governor, The Citadel follows the actions of the Charleston County Councilrelated to delays and cancellations in the event of inclement weather.
Weather note: The National Weather Service-Charleston projects improving weather with a word of caution: the low temperatures may be at the freezing mark tonight (Tues.), therefore there may be some small areas of black ice on roads where the water has not dried up.

The Citadel will open at 10:00 AM tomorrow morning, 24 Feb 2015, due to anticipated inclement weather.
· Students, faculty, and staff travelling to campus are encouraged to put safety first and alert their supervisors as needed.
· Essential services will remain in place for cadets in the morning.

Note: Employees must use leave or comp time, or plan to make up the time under the direction of their supervisors. The Governor may eventually issue a declaration, after the event, that the hazardous weather and emergency time off is excused for all state employees.
Bulldog Alerts for Winter Weather Issues

Winter is here, and while it does not happen frequently, we wanted to remind you about the process for weather related delays and closings impacting The Citadel campus:
· As a state agency, The Citadel must follow the delay and closing determinations of Charleston County Government.
· Once the decision has been made by the county council, notifications will be sent using the Bulldog Alert system in the form of text messages, emails and Citadel emails.
